Investing – a word we seem to see time and time again these days.

In the past, it’s mostly been associated with banks and large companies in the financial sector.

That, and Leonardo DiCaprio’s depiction of criminal stockbroker, Jordan Belfort, in the 2013 film, The Wolf of Wall Street.

However, the reality is, anyone can invest.

And more and more people are doing so.

But what exactly is it? And why does it seem so scary?

‘Investing is basically when you buy something you hope will increase in value in the future,’ Clare Francis, Director of Savings and Investments at Barclays Smart Investor says.
