THE FAIRY QUEEN’S CUCKOO CLOCK

Switzerland is a beautiful country with tall mountains and pretty villages hidden away in wooded valleys. It’s the sort of place where fairies like to live, and some say that they still dwell there today!

But this story takes place many years ago – long before there were mobile phones, or cars, or even clocks! People had to work out what time it was by looking at where the sun was in the sky, but they often got it wrong and arrived late.

The fairy-folk who lived near a certain Swiss village were amused by how people kept squinting at the sun and rushing around in a hurry.
