On the evening of December 20, 1968, David Faraday, 17, and Betty Lou Jensen, 16, drove out to a remote spot on Lake Herman Road in Vallejo, California.
The pair were found dead with multiple fatal bullet wounds in their car that very same night.
Despite their best efforts, the police were unable to determine a motive for the crime or any suspects at all.
Seven months later, another couple faced the same fate.
Early in the morning of July 5 1969, Darlene Ferrin, 22, and her boyfriend, Mike Mageau, 19, were sitting in a parked car in the Vallejo area.
They were approached by an unidentified man with a flashlight who then fired multiple shots at them.
Darlene died but Mike escaped with serious wounds.
