    Joel and Lisa Guy were a happy couple, devoted to their children and grandchildren.

    Joel, 61, and 55-year-old Lisa were looking forward to retiring from their engineering jobs.

    The couple wanted to move house and enjoy a peaceful life in Knox County, Tennessee, USA.

    They’d been financially supporting their adult son who lived 700 miles away and had been training to become a plastic surgeon for nine years. But, following retirement, they planned to stop their payments to Joel Guy Jr, then 28.
