Life’s a Beach

A six-hour ferry ride from Athens, the Greek capital, brought me to the small town of Mykonos. From the room keys and the door frames to the walls of the neighbourhood, everything was painted blue and white.

This calming combination left me with a renewed sense of energy. Our hotel was perched on a hill, and the slope brought us directly down to the sea. As dusk painted the evening sky in different colours, we made our way to dinner.

At dinner, we noticed a few Greek customs. They refused to serve until every person in the room was seated at their respective table. Standing up in between courses is seen as disrespectful to the servers.

THIS WAS A DIFFICULT RULE TO FOLLOW, SINCE INDIANS TEND TO SWITCH TABLES TO MAKE CONVERSATION.
