THE OSTRICH-A FUNNY FOWL

The ostrich (struthio camelus) is the world’s biggest bird, a non-flyer but one that can easily run up to about 70kph.

Ostriches are big. Males can weigh up to 140kg, females up to 100kg and they stand about two metres tall. When confronted, an ostrich will kick or trample an assailant (the legs are very powerful, and the main toe armed with a very tough toenail). If a kick or two connect properly an ostrich can kick you straight into the mortuary... yeah you will miss the hospital.
