Hexthorpe Flatts (The Dell)
The Flatts (also known as Hexthorpe Park or The Dell) is a leisure facility in Doncaster based around a couple of disused limestone quarries that were worked from the 16th-19th centuries. It was used as a public park from 1902, with a bandstand, playground, tea house, toilets, planting and boating on the nearby river all added by the time that it officially became a public park in 1928. At that time, Doncaster Estates Surveyor R E Forth added water features, a rock garden and "a fine collection of specimen trees". These contributed to its listing by English Heritage in 2001 as a Grade II park (list entry 1001501).
