SD5292 : Kendal Castle moat, frozen

taken 2 years ago, near to Kendal, Cumbria, England

Kendal Castle moat, frozen
Kendal Castle moat, frozen
On the south side. First it rains heavily, then the weather turns cold. This moated stone castle was built around 1200, replacing a wooden one on the opposite side of the river at Castle Howe. It is located high up on a drumlin (a glacial hill) and was the base for the barons of Kendal for over 200 years.
