SO7875 : Tree in autumnal colours, Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens, Bewdley, Worcs
taken 2 years ago, near to Bewdley, Worcestershire, England
Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) celebrated the Silver Jubilee (25 years) of her reign in 1977. As part of Bewdley’s celebrations a public park, called the Jubilee Gardens, was created in a roughly rectangular area within old boundary walls which are listed. Entrances are via Bewdley Museum in Load Street, and from High Street, Lax Lane and Severnside South (sometimes Severn Side South). The area is 8601 square metres. There are two fishponds, an orchard, children’s play area, a Green Theatre used at summer weekends, and lots of seats. The park is a tranquil area tucked away behind several streets, so many visitors would not be aware of its existence. It is closed in the evening. There are no car parks on site, but public ones are nearby, including at the end of Severnside South.
