The last of the three Sentinels was withdrawn from service in March 1993.
Wansford station was opened on the Blisworth to Northampton and Peterborough line of the London and Birmingham Railway (L&BR) in June 1845. It closed to general passenger traffic in July 1957 and for freight traffic in July 1964. The station was reopened as part of the NVR in June 1977.
The Nene Valley Railway (NVR) was opened by the Peterborough Railway Society (PRS) in 1974.
