Former Coventry Evening Telegraph building
The building stands at the corner of Upper Well Street and Corporation Street. The Upper Well Street frontage, visible at the left of this photo, faces the Belgrade Theatre. The Telegraph building was designed by L A Culliford & Partners and built 1956-60; see this map of modernist central Coventry by the Coventry Society Link

) . Its unadorned, modernist, 'Festival of Britain' style is softened by the curves of its frontages, convex onto Upper Well Street, concave onto Corporation Street. Like many postwar Coventry city centre buildings, it has covered pedestrian arcades.
The Telegraph, long known as the Evening Telegraph, was founded in 1891 and was Coventry's first local daily newspaper. It moved out of this building in 2012 to more modest premises by the canal basin. The empty building was subsequently used for exhibitions and performances before being converted to other uses, chiefly a hotel, called the Telegraph.
