SO6005 : Gales Stone, Brockhollands Road, Bream

taken 13 days ago, near to Bream, Gloucestershire, England

Gales Stone, Brockhollands Road, Bream
Gales Stone, Brockhollands Road, Bream
Stone 114 in the Northern kerb of the sloping road. It was labelled "stone" on OS maps from 1878 to 1959.
It is within but not on the boundary of the Royal Forest of Dean, and resembles boundary stones thereof.
The 1835 map, the equivalent of a tithe map for the Royal Forest,
shows it would have been nestled against the SW boundary of a parcel of land labelled 160, if it had been granted by then.
