taken 6 months ago, near to St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, England

Boundary stone
Boundary stone
Boundary stone erected in 1898 on the pavement by where Marina becomes Grand Parade, marking the historic eastern limit of St Leonards. This was originally marked by a gateway across Marina, shown on the 1875 1:500 plan, which was demolished in 1895. The inscription on the stone reads "This stone erected in 1898 marks the eastern boundary at this point of the town of St Leonard founded by the late James Burton Esqr 1828". Grade II listed -see LinkExternal link. See TQ8008 : Start of Grand Parade for a wider view. Modern day St Leonards-on-Sea now extends along Grand Parade and Eversfield Place, almost to Hastings Pier.
