Wassell Wood is a semi-natural ancient woodland on a steep hill, it covers an area of 22.37 ha (55.28 acres). The wood contains a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Hillfort) at its summit.
This medieval earthwork is on the northern edge of the woods. Henry IV is thought to have used this spot as an over winter post in 1405 and 1406 when he occupied Worcester to hold up forces of the legendary Welsh hero Owen Glyn Dwr.
