Level Crossing at Bootle
Bootle railway station is on the Cumbrian Coast Line which runs between Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness. The station is situated 24 miles (39 km) northwest of Barrow-in-Furness; it serves the village of serves the village of Bootle in Cumbria and is operated by Northern Trains.
The station is unstaffed; it has retained its main building (the stationmaster's house, waiting rooms and restrooms) but these are now two private residences. A ticket vending machine has been installed to allow passengers to buy tickets before boarding the trains. There are passenger shelters, digital information screens and timetable posters on each platform.
A level crossing with hand-operated gates (and supervising signal box) links the platforms, which both have step-free access from the road.
