SK3293 : Two stones on Birley Edge

taken 10 months ago, near to Grenoside, Sheffield, England

Two stones on Birley Edge
Two stones on Birley Edge
The nearer is a medieval boundary marker dating from the 12th century, though only the base is thought to be original. The further was erected in 1951 to commemorate the Festival of Britain. It has a toposcope on top looking west over the Don Valley and showing where to look to see various landmarks.
