A row of BISF Type A houses, Charter Avenue, Canley
Around two hundred of these houses were built in Canley after 1945, using prefabricated steel frames and panels made by the British Iron & Steel Federation, an ingenious solution to the postwar housing shortage. See SP2877 : A pair of BISF Type A houses, Charter Avenue, Canley for a view of a pair of these houses, and SP3077 : BISF 'Type A' houses, Freeburn Causeway, Canley for the back story.
