The Yorkshire Coast Line crosses Carr Lane at Cayton AHBC (Automatic Half Barrier Crossing). The line is single track between Bridlington and Seamer with the exception of a passing loop between Hunmanby and Filey. National Cycle Network route 1 runs along Carr Lane.

The Yorkshire Coast Line is a railway line. It runs northwards from Hull Paragon to Bridlington and Scarborough calling at other intermediate stations. The line dates from 1846.

National Route 1 of the National Cycle Network is a long distance cycle route connecting Dover and the Shetland Islands mainly via the east coast of England and Scotland. The route is all signed and open except between London and Woodbridge (in Suffolk) and between Whitby and Staithes (in Yorkshire).
