Hessle Foreshore from the Humber Bridge
The Humber Bridge opened to traffic on 24th June 1981. When it opened, the bridge was the longest of its type in the world; it was not surpassed until 1998, with the completion of the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge in Japan and is now the twelfth-longest. It links Barton-upon-Humber in Lincolnshire with Hessle in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
There are paths for pedestrians on both sides of the carriageway but only the westerly one seems to be in use at present. This view looks down towards the foreshore at Hessle.
