NY9340 : Minor collapse on old railway embankment

taken 6 years ago, near to Eastgate, County Durham, England

Minor collapse on old railway embankment
Minor collapse on old railway embankment
The northern end of an embankment of the long-closed Rookhope & Middlehope Railway crosses the valley of the stream, Sunderland Cleugh. The triangular, fenced area at the centre of the image is where there's been some collapse of material.
The route of the Weardale Way has followed the rail route from the north, (left in the image); it leaves it, descending towards the camera and crosses moorland as it heads towards Westgate.
