Great Central Railway - Loughborough Station
Great Central Railway - Loughborough Station
This is currently the northern terminus of the Loughborough based preserved Great Central Railway. This is the entrance building with the ticket office but the island platform is down a flight of stairs with the railway running under the bridge flanking this building. As preserved steam railways go I am very fond of this one. Its double track layout to Rothley allows for very intense galas with up to 80 movements per day. It is also a somewhere to somewhere railway and this gives it advantages over railways that are single track and so long the traffic density is much lower or just go from nowhere to nowhere.
