Garden gate on the village green, Edmundbyers

This gate leads to the garden of the old farmhouse at Village Farm. The main part of the house, shown here, dates back to the 17th century. Note the massive boulder foundations at the base of the wall, which are typical of this period. The byre to the right was added later.
