It may have been some years ago but there was a campaign to bring Bedminster's shopping experience to more customers. Part of this was the installation of a lot of insect models to be mounted high above the shops as an attractive feature. Perhaps this bee(?) has seen many purchasers over the time. Next door is Bristol's famous theatre pub, the Hen and Chicken. Its exterior is more modern but it has been here for just over a century.
