Aston Hall
The west front of Aston Hall. The house was built by Sir Thomas Holte, work began in 1618 and was completed in 1636. Inside the newall on the stairs still retains the results of being hit by a cannon ball. In the early 18th century it was the home of James Watt jr. In 1864 Aston Hall was bought by the Birmingham Corporation becoming the first historic country house to be municipal ownership. The house is Grade I listed.
