Manchester Day is an annual event that celebrates the city and its people. Created in 2010, Manchester Day brings a carnival spirit to Manchester with its vibrant parade and other multi-arts events across the city centre. The theme for this year (2019) was '10 out of 10' to mark the tenth anniversary of the event and on Sunday, 23rd June, thousands of people lined the streets of the parade route stretching along Peter Street and Deansgate before finishing in Exchange Square. It is estimated that more than 1500 people from more than 40 community groups took part in the colourful pageant to celebrate Manchester's people, cultures and communities - and their achievements in industry, science, music, fashion, education and sport. As always, sustainability was a key focus for the event, with as many recycled materials used as possible and petrol-driven vehicles excluded from the parade.
