Above the poppy wreath the dates:
1914
1919

The inscription on the stone below reads:

"TRUE LOVE BY LIFE
TRUE LOVE BY
DEATH IS TRIED
LIVE THOUGH FOR
ENGLAND. WE FOR
ENGLAND DIED."

Behind the memorial on the left is the Grade II listed LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) Brereton Corner. To the right is the Grade II* listed LinkExternal link Brereton House (aka Brayton House and Brereton Cottage). Now two dwellings parts of the building date back to 1740.
