Conisbrough Viaduct from Conisbrough Castle Keep
The magnificent Conisbrough Viaduct is seen here from nearly a kilometre away from the top of Conisbrough Castle Keep. Opened in 1909 it connected the Hull and Barnsley Railway with those of the Great Central and Great Northern. With 21 arches and crossing the River Don it is 1,527 feet in length.
The line was closed in 1965 and the viaduct is now part of the National Cycle Network carrying route 62.
