SP2871 : Abbey End, Kenilworth
taken 3 years ago, near to Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England
During World War II a German bomb left over from the raids on Coventry hit buildings in Abbey End, causing much damage and loss of life. The area was not reconstructed until the 1960's, which is when most of the present shops were built.
The new Youth and Community Centre was opened in 2008 to replace one on Bertie Road which was demolished to make way for the new Waitrose store. The Centre is located at the back of Abbey End car park which was rearranged at the same time to also include a road which provides delivery access for the Waitrose/Talisman development. This road doesn't have a name as yet but it is built to adoptable highways standards.
