Bears of Sheffield: The original bear
This sculpture by David Mayne was sited in the Bear Pit of the Sheffield Botanical Gardens in 2005 and has been a popular feature ever since.
In the summer of 2021 a public arts exhibition 'The Bears of Sheffield' showcased 60 big and 100 little bear sculptures based on this original. The nearest big bear is located nearby and was decorated by David. SK3386 : Bears of Sheffield: #4 The Story of a Steel Bear
Bears of Sheffield

Bears of Sheffield is a public arts exhibition celebrating Sheffield and its surrounding area. Coordinated by The Children's Hospital Charity, the trail brings together businesses, communities, artists and schools whilst supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The Bears have been brought to life by artists of all ages, both professional and amateur, and they arrived in the city in July 2021.

The Bears of Sheffield showcases 60 large and 100 little bear sculptures in both indoor and outdoor locations.

The bears are raising funds through sponsorship and donations to help transform the Cancer and Leukaemia ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
