Someone has got rid of a mattress here, rather than take it to the household recycling centre in the north of Shrewsbury. I assume they couldn't be bothered to drive that far. So they brought it to a local beauty spot. Perhaps they hope that the council will send a lorry to collect it, which they probably will...The council would probably have called at their house too, if they had asked, and collected it anyway.

Most fly-tipping is unnecessary. But perpetrators obviously enjoy it. They must feel that they are saving time, avoiding hassle, saving fuel, time and money plus they are defying social norms, being a rebel, a clever beater of the system, a crafty rule-breaking winner, getting one over on us all. What winners they are.
