George Floyd in Stevenson Square
In the 1960s and 1970s, Stevenson Square was a bustling bus terminus. In the middle were underground toilets SJ8498 : Ladies' Toilet Stevenson Square but these were closed many years ago and have since become a site for ever changing street art. The artworks have previously been changed every three to six months but this painting of George Floyd by Manchester street artist Akse P19. has been here since June 2020 SJ8498 : George Floyd Mural, Stevenson Square. In recent months the square has become pedestrianised to allow people to gather whilst still maintaining social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.
