This firm of surgical dressing manufacturers had a pair of W H Allen inverted vertical compound (enclosed) steam engines driving alternators. These were built in 1953 and stopped in 1982. They were on standby for a while and were ultimately scrapped in 1991 or 1992. These were of a reasonable size, generating some 360 brake horsepower.
