The public footpath runs from The Gill to Old Hall Road alongside and above Gill Banks Beck. It is the alternative route for The Cumbria Way long distance footpath to Old Hall Farm (next photograph SD2878 : Gill Banks, The Cumbria Way Alternative Route).

A 119km (74 mile) long distance path from Ulverston to Carlisle, through the heart of the English Lake District.
