St. Pega's Church, Peakirk, in the snow
St. Pega's Church dates from the 11th. century with various additions in the 13th. and 15th. centuries. The village's name actually derives from "Pega's church". St. Pega lived from circa 673 to circa 719. The sister of St. Guthlac, she belonged to one of the noble families of Mercia and lived in Peakirk, not far from the hermitage established by her brother at Crowland. St. Pega died while on a pilgrimage to Rome.
