A new notice has been recently been attached to the stile giving access to the Trans Pennine Trail from Garside Street SJ9594 : Access to Trans Pennine Trail from Garside Street] reminding people that the trail is shared with equestrians.

It reads:

Share with care

The Apethorn-Godley Trail is for
walkers, cyclists and equestrians.

• Everyone should use the path
with care and consideration for
each other.

• Whilst the 'horseriding' side of
the path is so wet and muddy
please expect to see
horseriders on the hard
surfaced side — they are
entitled to be on either side of
the trail.

• Please keep your dog under
close control at all times.
