The 'Boat House and Bothy' originally built in 1896 had become derelict and overgrown with rhododendrons due to years of non use. Work started on their refurbishment in 2019 by a group of local volunteers (the 'Friends of Blair Loch'). A safe boat boarding platform has been built in the boat house and the bothy has been fitted out as a classroom/ meeting room suitable for groups of up to 18 for educational purposes.
