View from Forest Way near Hartfield
Forest Way was once the East Grinstead to Tunbridge Wells Railway. It is now a popular walking and cycle route between East Grinstead and Groombridge.
The railway was opened in 1866 and closed at the beginning of 1967. Ironically Dr Beeching who lived near to this line just outside East Grinstead, was a season ticket holder and travelled regularly over this very route. It is now an attractive cycle track and footpath.
The clouds in the distance formed a heavy shower, not long after this photograph was taken.
