NY9306 : William Gill Colliery Track

taken 4 years ago, near to William Gill [water Feature], North Yorkshire, Great Britain

William Gill Colliery Track
William Gill Colliery Track
Originally serving coal workings on the Tan Hill coal seam at the head of William Gill, the track is nowadays maintained for grouse shooting interests but does carry a public right of way in the form of a public footpath. In wet weather, the track provides excellent dryshod walking, right up to the point where you meet the first ford (which is just round the bend in this view). Fortunately, I had thought ahead and was wearing wellies for this walk, and the dog didn't care.
