NN1788 : River Arkaig hydro

taken 8 years ago, near to Achnacarry, Highland, Scotland

River Arkaig hydro
River Arkaig hydro
A 500kW hydro power scheme on the River Arkaig, on the Achnacarry estate. A weir diverts water from the main part of the river. The water passes through two Archimedes screw turbines to generate power.

Construction was completed last year. Historically there has been a sawmill and smaller hydro scheme on this site.
