J3560 : New roundabout, Temple crossroads - December 2016(2)
taken 8 years ago, near to The Temple, Co Down, Northern Ireland
A staggered crossroads, between Carryduff and Ballynahinch, where the Lisburn – Saintfield road crosses the Belfast – Newcastle/Kilkeel road. There is a possibility that the crossroads might be replaced by a roundabout - see this link Link. The photographs submitted by me appear as a matter of geographical and historical record only and express no opinion for or against the scheme. I have no connection with the Roads Service or any other body. There is no suggestion, actual or implied, that any of the drivers are acting in an unsafe or illegal manner.
Update 17 October 2015 – the following is an extract from the DRD’s current list of future tenders “Estimated value: Approx. £1.2M Estimated release date: October 2015 Detail: The proposed project is to construct a new 4 arm roundabout along the A24 Ballynahinch Road, incorporating the realignment of existing approaches from the B6 Saintfield Road. The junction is known locally as ‘Temple Crossroads’.”
The roundabout was completed in December 2016.
