SU9033 : The epicentre of my "Bashire"

taken 9 years ago, near to Haslemere, Surrey, England

The epicentre of my "Bashire"
The epicentre of my "Bashire"
At the end of The Spinney is a railway bank, and somewhere just beyond the house mid-shot is the exact centre of SU9033. This is important if like me you are starting a "Bashire"
Running total: 1 B point
What is a "Bashire?"

Firstly, rhyme it with saltire. Secondly credit Bill Bryson with the idea. It's a sort of geriatric straight line orienteering. Basically you try to follow a straight line and record what you see, square by square. A Bashire starts at your home grid square and is two straight lines, one running north to south and the other east to west. After only a few squares these will form a cross- each one unique.
