Musgrave Bridge's new railings
Musgrave Bridge's new railings
The River Eden overtops its banks regularly, flooding this area. In 1830 these wrought iron railings were installed in the walls leading to the stone bridge built 5 years earlier, to allow floodwater to pass through. They were restored in 2008, but damaged again on 6 December 2015 when Storm Desmond passed through. They have been restored again.
