SD7374 : The west face of Ingleborough

taken 7 years ago, near to Chapel-le-Dale, North Yorkshire, England

The west face of Ingleborough
The west face of Ingleborough
Snow (and a zoom shot!) lends an almost alpine flavopur to the steep, western flanks of the mountain. My line of ascent followed the obvious snow arete picked out by the oblique sunlight. I traversed right, below the crags into the corrie of Falls Foot and up a short gully onto the shelf above. From there I made an ascending traverse through the crags and boulders of the topmost slope onto the plateau. No yaks, sherpas or intermediate camps were required.
