Beyer Garratt 143 being watered at Caernarfon
This was the last locomotive built by Beyer, Peacock and Company in Manchester in 1958. Ex South African Railways NGG16 Class Garratt. Entered service in plain black livery in 1998, since restored and running on the Welsh Highland Railway here in 2007. The livery changed to green in 2011.
At that time of this image the journey was from Caernarfon to Rhyd Ddu but the line now runs to Porthmadog.
