Dunham Massey Hall and garden are immediately west of the village of Dunham Town. “Christmas at Dunham Massey” was a special event organised by the National Trust in partnership with events producers Raymond Gubbay. Each evening, between 1st and 30th December, visitors were treated to an after-dark illuminated trail winding for approximately one mile through the historic Dunham Massey woodland. Following the trail, visitors wandered beneath tree canopies illuminated in seasonal shards of light and amongst larger-than-life snowflakes and baubles, transforming Dunham Massey into a winter wonderland; all accompanied by Christmas music.

The present hall was initially built in 1616, but was later remodelled between 1732 and 1740; it was also altered towards the end of the eighteenth century and in the early twentieth century. The hall and grounds were donated to the National Trust by the last Earl of Stamford, in 1976 They are open to the public and are amongst Britain’s leading visitor attractions, with almost 200000 people visiting in 2010 (LinkExternal link ). The hall is a Grade I listed building (List entry Number: 1356512 LinkExternal link Historic England) as are the carriage house (List entry Number: 1067942 LinkExternal link Historic England) and stables (List entry Number: 1356495 LinkExternal link Historic England).
