The Grade II listed LinkExternal link Opera House is a 1920 seat theatre which opened in 1912 as The New Theatre. It was renamed the Opera House in 1920 in honour of Sir Thomas Beecham. It closed in 1979 and for five years was a bingo hall. The Palace Trust acquired it in 1984 and returned it to a theatre. In 1990 it was acquired by Apollo Leisure. It was refurbished in 2003 and is currently owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group LinkExternal link
