taken 10 years ago, 3 km from Glenluce, Dumfries And Galloway, Scotland

Sea defence
Sea defence
This row of old railway sleepers were placed here decades ago to stop the sea eroding the dunes and breaking through onto the golf course behind. They seem to have done a pretty good job - the accumulated tidal debris at their base marks the high point of the recent extreme spring tide which was the biggest for nearly 20 years.
