Old Linslade - St Mary's - from near the gate
Taken from just inside the churchyard looking across at the northern façade and tower of St Mary's church in Old Linslade. This fine old church has long been superseded by SP9124 : Linslade - Church of St Barnabas but has been looked after by The Friends of St Mary's. It is still consecrated and is used occasionally for services, concerts and weddings.
Dating originally from Norman times its Chancel Arch is from this period - and also the font (see below). Most of the fabric of the church now however, dates from the C14th and C15th.
The church is open to the public on Sundays between Easter and the end of September from 2:30 to 5:00pm. St Mary's is Grade I listed LinkExternal link and contains one of the 23 extant "Aylesbury" Fonts - see shared description below.
