The ferry 'Morvern' heading out from Arranmore to Burtonport on the mainland. The crossing time is only about 20 minutes and there are frequent sailings each day. Introduced onto this route in 2010, MV 'Morvern' was formerly with Caledonian MacBrayne as a small 'Island Class' ferry serving destinations such as Iona NM2923 : Fionnphort - 1985.

Caledonian MacBrayne Limited (CalMac) was formed in 1973 following the merger of the Caledonian Steam Packet Limited and David MacBrayne Limited. Ownership passed to the Secretary of State for Scotland in 1990 and is now vested with the Scottish Government.
