SE4225 : Tittle Cott BridgeThis narrow and gloomy pedestrian tunnel under the railway at Castleford built in Victorian times, was replaced in 2005 by a new wider prefabricated structure that was officially opened in June 2008. David Barrie's photo of 2004 shows the original 1890 structure that was actually called 'Tickle Cock Bridge' before it was replaced.
After the official opening, the local council in a fit of puritanical zeal, renamed the new bridge 'Tittle Cott Bridge' on a plaque, a decision that was quickly reversed, and a new plaque resplendent with the original name, was (ahem), duly erected.
